Leonora Voigtlander was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She started her training at the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet School when she was five. As a teenager, Leonora received scholarships to study year-round at both the School of Ballet Chicago and the Miami City Ballet School.
After graduating from the Miami City Ballet School, Leonora received a contract to dance with the Saint Louis Ballet. During her time with the company she danced several featured roles choreographed by Artistic Director, Gen Horiuchi. Favourites included the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Blue Bird in The Sleeping Beauty and Rosaline in Romeo and Juliet.
Leonora was also featured in Twyla Tharp’s The Storyteller and Christopher D’Amboise’s Volatizing the Esters. A personal highlight of Leonora’s time with the Saint Louis Ballet was performing the principal roles in both Balanchine’s Valse Fantaisie and Allegro Brillante.
