Season Education Resources

Royal New Zealand Ballet has created education resources for New Zealand teachers, students and classrooms. Leaping out from its pages are ideas for students and teachers to create dance in their own classrooms and the opportunity to explore Royal New Zealand Ballet works through the exploration of classical and contemporary ballets. These resources provide a brief introduction to the history and development of Royal New Zealand Ballet, highlighting its chosen productions and artists. This resource is written for primary, intermediate and secondary teachers and their students.

What is Ballet? DVD Resource

Royal New Zealand Ballet has created a new dance education resource for schools called What is Ballet? Company dancer, Shannon Dawson, is seen working with a group of students at Maidstone Intermediate School over a series of lessons. Shannon teaches some of the basics of ballet - foot and arm positions, plies, balances and lifts etc. He also teaches the students some of the RNZB's repertoire, including excerpts from the ballet Peter Pan and La Sylphide. Students are then guided into their own dance making using the material that Shannon has taught them. To preorder your What is Ballet? DVD download an order form from the menu on the right.
