We want to acknowledge the wonderful work Matt has contributed to the company in his time here, first in 2012 – 13 and then, returning from Boston Ballet in mid-2022, as an Artist, and then promoted to Soloist for 2023.

After Cinderella, where his roles included Prince Charming, and Venus Rising, where he performed in both Aurum and Waterbaby Bagatelles, this year, we’ve enjoyed watching him take the stage as Tybalt, Paris, and Lord Capulet in Andrea Schermoly’s Romeo & Juliet, performing “Nobody Takes Me Seriously” from FrENZy in our Tutus on Tour programme, and dancing in three pieces from Lightscapes; Serenade, Te Ao Mārama and Logos.

He’s formed a particularly fruitful partnership with Alice Topp, performing in her Absence of Light short film, created for Ballet Bites in 2022, in Aurum in 2022 and especially this year in Logos.

We wish Matt every success in his future adventures in dance which we know he will approach with as much passion as he has his time with the RNZB; he will be missed by his RNZB whānau.
