2014 Dance Floor Appeal
Jumped on. Dumped on.
Loved on. Shoved on.
Cried on. Died on.
After ten years, after millions of steps, and after thousands of hours, the RNZB dance floor is ready to retire. It’s the foundation on which every magical opening night is made, where new choreography is born, and where swans, Wilis, fairies and courtiers learn to inhabit their characters and bring ballet to vivid life.
And it’s not just any old bit of lino. Our new custom-built, industry standard dance floor will keep our dancers safe and supported as they go from pirouette to grand jêté, helping to cushion landings, safeguarding joints, and minimising slips, trips and falls. With 10 years’ service, we certainly got the most out of the old one, and we hope that the new one will last just as long – but quality and longevity come at a price, and we need to raise $25,000 to cover the cost.
We need a little help from our friends. Will you step forward?
Every gift of any amount to our Dance Floor Appeal helps the RNZB to continue to create world-class ballet, from the ground up. As an expression of our thanks, everyone contributing $100 or more will receive a special coaster (while stocks last), made from a genuine off cut from our new floor, and signed by an RNZB company dancer. As our dancers take class each day, your morning cuppa will land safely on a little piece of our studio.
Make a donation of any amount here. Or text DONATE to 4741 to donate $3.
